In August of 2000, I became disabled with a back injury. It was so scary not knowing if I'd be able to return to work! As the months went by, it became clear that I wouldn't be able to return to the marketing work I had done previously. For about two years, I laid around feeling sorry for myself. Then one day, God said to me, "Get up and go find someplace to sing!" (He talks to me rather direct at times because He knows how hard it is to get through to a stubborn old Missouri mule! LOL). As I began thinking and praying about what the Lord had told me quite clearly that He wanted me to do, I was reminded of visiting my grandmother when she was in a nursing home. I'd go in and sing for her, and not only did she enjoy it, the other residents looked forward to those visits as well. And thus, my ministry was born! Since 2003, I have been sharing God's love with residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities all over the Kansas City metro area. In 2009, I am averaging 35 home visits per month! Each week I plan a new program, featuring about 20 of the 250 songs in my repertoire...mostly hymns and older Gospel songs. How I've grown to LOVE those old hymns through this work! I'm so very blessed to be able to spend my days encouraging these dear people who've basically been "pushed aside" by our society. It's such a joy to see someone seem to "wake up" from their depression and begin singing "Oh How I Love Jesus" with me!!! Please pray for me to continue being used by God to remind so many just how tremendous His love for them is! Check back often for updates!
